Springing Up: New England Fungi with Lawrence Millman

The Herb Lyceum’s April Speaker’s series brings delicious, one-night-only menu offerings together with food for the mind, harkening back to the United States’ historical Lyceum movement or even to Aristotle’s own Lyceum.

Aristotle created The Lyceum, or Academy, to promote learning in Athens. Here in Groton, Massachusetts a couple of millenia later, we invite speakers for our April Wednesdays to share their knowledge and enjoy a meal in our dinner party style seating format. Each weekly menu and topic is unique from week to week.

On April 5th, please join us and mycologist Lawrence Millman, adventurer and author, for a one-time menu featuring mushrooms from our friends Fat Moon Mushrooms, hailing from Littleton.

Here at The Herb Lyceum, we serve a prix fixe tasting menu without choices. We understand that’s not for everyone, but for those brave enough to come along with us on our culinary journey, we promise you will enjoy the ride. We do try to provide alternative options for courses for guests with dietary restrictions or strong aversions, but because the menu is limited, we aren’t able to offer a wide variety of substitutions. If you prefer to have more control over your dining experience, we are happy to suggest some of our favorite places to eat in the area.

Your ticket includes table service (gratuity may be left on beverage orders). Eventbrite fees and tax will be added at the time of purchase. As of August 1st, 2021 we have our liquor license, and are no longer BYOB. We have a well-curated menu of house beverages, including wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase on premises to enjoy with your dinner.

Tickets sold are for one seating starting at 6pm.

Due to the small, cozy nature of our carriage house, our dinner guests will be seated family style at long tables. Private tables during the colder months are not available.

If you are coming in a group and will not be able to purchase tickets together, please send along their names so we can seat you all together if possible.

If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please email Ryanq@puritancambridge.com at least 24 hours ahead of time to allow us to prepare any accommodations or amendments to the menu.

As these events are planned and prepared for many days out , we require at least 24 hours notice on all cancellations. Tickets are non refundable due to weather or other circumstances unless we are able to fill your seat with a waitlisted individual. Tickets are transferable.
